The importance of reading and communicating with children as early as birth is critical to the healthy and happy development of a child. CCI's Talk, Reach, Read program, sponsored by the Citi Foundation, serves as the foundation for all CCI literacy initiatives.
Through Talk, Reach, Read, CCI's on-staff literacy specialists strive to convey the importance of reading family child care and center based providers through a user-friendly set of tools designed to build a literacy-rich environment for all children six weeks to five years of age. The curricula offers fun strategies on how to build a child's vocabulary, sight-word recognition, comprehension skills, and fosters the overall enjoyment of reading.
Book donations play a integral role in the success of Talk, Reach, Read and mini-libraries consisting of age-appropriate story and activity books are packaged and delivered to all children.
